The goal is to showcase work which is dynamic, absorbing and fun executed in a medium that is rarely seen in Ireland. Audiences will be presented with exciting contemporary work of the highest international standard. This project fits into Carlow's programme of temporary and permanent public art which aims to build upon the important arts and cultural reputation in Carlow and the south-east of Ireland. It involves collaboration between Carlow County Council and Fumio Nanjo and will include work by ten international artists. An exhibition of this type has never been staged in Ireland before, and most of this work has never been seen anywhere in Europe. Fumio Nanjo is a renowned Tokyo-based curator and art critic who has worked in Japan and internationally since the 1980. He curated Japan entry in the Hanover Expo, was formerly Japanese curator for the Venice Biennale, and has also been a judge of the Turner Prize.
